There are difrent kind f ways to get those, here are the following that I know:
-Playing the mini games (so be sure to take care of your pet, because once it goes back to its egg form, you can't play those)
-Sending your pet to explore
-Playing the episodes (once you replay an ep more than 10 times you can't gt any XP out of it anymore)
-The game of the cat, you know... The one where you have to find the items and stuff

Now that you mention, I'm pretty new to the game too, but I know that the items you need change everyday, so you have to get the items on the day itself to get the item.
Yesterday I saw that all items needed to get the thing are all avaible in the shop, except for one item, so I think that those items can be found by exploring?

Now I have a question too,
Are the items you have to find for an epic or legendary sack much harder to get? Because that would make sense since te item is special as well
